Coffee helps to lose weight

A recent study, predating that of the University of Bristol, showed that the daily consumption of several cups of coffee protects against cardiovascular disease and increases life expectancy. Now, the new study from the University of Bristol adds that drinking three to five cups of coffee daily (with a caffeine content between 70 and 150 mg) reduces the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

How does caffeine help you lose weight?

Caffeine can boost metabolism, increase fat burning and suppress appetite, according to the study’s research team, conducted at Britain’s University of Bristol. Eating 100 milligrams of caffeine per day increases energy burning in the body by about 100 calories per day. Increased energy consumption reduces the risk of overweight and obesity.

Effect of weight loss on diabetes

The study indicates that caffeine reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes. But that’s not all, weight loss linked to caffeine consumption plays an important role. The results of the study showed that 43% of the effect of caffeine in reducing the risk of developing type 2 diabetes was actually due to a decrease in body weight.
